What did I tell you? United Utilities are caring out not one - but two sets of road works on the A593 Coniston Road nr Ambleside. I have been promised a 'Priority System' for travelling towards Langdale but if you don't want to spend the morning sat in traffic then set of early.
The races will have to set of on time with or with out you.
Any Assistance with the Marshalling would be greatly appreciated as we are very short of numbers due to various other commitments.
Will any National Trust Members please park in the Trust car park, signed just after the Stickle Barn.

Marathon Update From Rod 28th August 2009
Friends,
As you already know it is our 50th wedding anniversary this Saturday August 29th and being the romantic that I am I shall be whisking her away to our daughters villa (flash or what) in Spain - so I will not be able to deal with entries 'till I get back approx Friday 4th September ish. But all entries will be accepted.
The promised road works will be in place on the 20th September, I am trying to get a priority system for vehicles travelling towards Langdale, but arrive early just in case because the races have to start on time - especially the fun run.
We are short of marshals due to holidays, sickness and work commitments so drinks stations and junctions will not have as many marshals as usual, unless of course you volunteer to help.
We have had a good response from local businesses in regard to prizes, in fact the prize for the marathon winner is worth hundreds of pounds, kindly donated by Flamco UK LTD (Ian Roberts - marathon runner!!!)

This is the 20th anniversary of the Marathon, a commemorative T Shirt, with all the entrants names, will be printed, so long as entered before 10th Sep 09
Entry Fees: MARATHON - £16. Half Marathon - £13. (FUN RUN £2.50. Entry on the day)
All Races start and finish at the Stickle barn Tavern, Great Langdale Nr. Ambleside, which is approx 5 miles down the B5343 Road off the A593 Coniston Rd. There is off road Parking near Start/Finish. Hot & Cold food is available.
AWARDS: Commemorative T-shirt, Medal & certificate for finishers in the Marathon
T-shirt and certificate in the Half Marathon. Medal and Ice-Cream for kids in the fun run.
Results Service www.ukresults.net or www.run3.co.uk. Mile Markers, Marshals, Drinks Stations. St. John ambulance Stations and sweep vehicle. There is
a Race limit of 500 Entrants. Closing date 10th Sep 09.
No late entries or on day (except Fun Run)
